Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)-Doctor Referral is NOT always needed

In-network with: Nurturing Nutrition is in-network with United Healthcare, Baylor Scott and White, Blue Cross Blue Sheild, Anthem, and Superior/Ambetter - commercial HMO and EPO plans.

Your health insurance or employee benefit plan may cover full or partial nutrition counseling services.
Please check your coverage carefully by calling the member services number on your insurance card and asking the following questions:
-
Is nutrition counseling, also called medical nutrition therapy, covered? (the procedure codes are 97802 and 97803)
-
Which diagnosis codes are covered as preventative? Ask specifically about code Z71.3.
-
If the visits are not covered as preventative, is there a deductible, co-pay, or coinsurance?
-
-
Are telehealth services covered for nutrition counseling?
-
How many covered visits do I have per calendar year?
-
Is an MD referral or prior authorization required?
-
Is Paige Pierce (NPI 1790534980) covered under the plan? If not, what are the out-of-network benefits?

For your records, write down the date, reference number, and person you spoke to on the call.

**Please Note: Insurance will not cover services other than nutrition counseling or medical nutrition therapy. You can still see Paige at the self-pay rate ($150) if you are not in-network or your insurance does not cover nutrition counseling.

Good Faith Estimates
Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
-
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
-
Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
-
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
-
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
-
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-877-696-6775.
